Our Story

ABOUT THE SHOW

A podcast born from cold water, early mornings, and an obsession with Great Lakes steelhead.

The Show

WHY WE FISH

Steelhead Alley Pod started as a simple idea: record the conversations that happen on the drive home from the river. The ones where you break down every cast, every missed fish, every moment that made the whole frozen morning worth it.

What it became is something bigger — a community resource for anyone chasing steelhead on the Great Lakes tributaries. We talk tactics, gear, conservation, and the culture of a fishery that doesn't get nearly enough attention.

Two seasons in, 22 episodes deep, and we're just getting started. The fish keep running. So do we.

WHO WE ARE

K

Kyle

Host & Producer

Kyle grew up fishing the tributaries of Steelhead Alley and has spent the better part of two decades chasing chrome through ice, rain, and rising water. He started the podcast to share the stories and knowledge that rarely make it into fishing magazines.

P

Pono

Co-Host

Pono brings a different perspective to the water — equal parts philosopher and angler. His conversations on the podcast dig into the why behind the obsession, the culture of fly fishing, and what keeps us coming back season after season.

The Region

STEELHEAD ALLEY

Steelhead Alley is the stretch of Lake Erie tributaries running through northeastern Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania, and western New York. From November through April, rainbow trout push in from the lake to spawn — and anglers follow.

These rivers — the Chagrin, Grand, Conneaut, Elk Creek, Cattaraugus — are some of the most productive steelhead fisheries in the country. Cold, clear, and often overlooked by the wider fly fishing world.

This is our home water. This is what the podcast is about.
